Program Description

How to Get a CDL in Pa.

Northern Pennsylvania Regional College has partnered with PA Pride, LLC to provide commercial truck driving training in Cameron, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Forest, McKean, Potter, and Warren Counties. There are three trainings available – CDL Class A Program, CDL Class A Tanker and Hazmat Program, and CDL Class A Oil and Gas Safety Program. These programs are eligible for CareerLink® funding through Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Workforce Development System. All trainings meet the requirements set forth by new federal Entry-Level Driver Training regulations.

NPRC conducts training at three CDL ranges.

  • Erie – NPRC CDL Driving Range
  • Shinglehouse – Wayne Paving
  • Warren – Betts Park

CDL Class A
Course Fees: $5500
Registration deadline: Ongoing registration
Dates: Determined based on enrollment
Days/Times: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Description: This 4-week program is comprehensively designed to teach the necessary skills for safe operation of a commercial vehicle. There will be 40 hours of classroom training, and 120 hours of road, range, and skills training. After completing the program, assistance will be provided to take the license examination. Successful completion of this program will provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to obtain employment with local, regional, and national companies. Each student is responsible for covering the costs of permits, endorsements, and Department of Transportation drug screens and physicals.

CDL Class A Tanker and Hazmat
Course Fees: $6500
Registration deadline: Ongoing registration
Dates: Determined based on enrollment
Days/Times: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Description: This 5-week program is comprehensively designed to teach the necessary skills for safe operation of a commercial vehicle and acquire a Tanker and Hazmat endorsement. There will be 60 hours of classroom training and 140 hours of road and range training. After completing the program, assistance will be provided to take the license examination. Successful completion of this program will provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to obtain employment with local, regional, and national companies. Each student is responsible for covering the costs of permits, endorsements, and Department of Transportation drug screens and physicals.

CDL Class A Oil and Gas Safety
Course Fees: $7500
Registration deadline: Ongoing registration
Dates: Determined based on enrollment
Days/Times: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Description: This 6-week program is comprehensively designed to teach the necessary skills for safe operation of a commercial vehicle and acquire a Tanker and Hazmat endorsement. There will be 40 hours of classroom training, 140 hours of road and range training, and 40 hours of online oil and gas safety training that is led by an instructor. After completing the program, assistance will be provided to take the license examination. Successful completion of this program will provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to obtain employment with local, regional, and national companies. Each student is responsible for covering the costs of permits, endorsements, and Department of Transportation drug screens and physicals.
