Program Description

How to Get a CDL in Pa.

Northern Pennsylvania Regional College has partnered with PA Pride, LLC to provide commercial truck driving training in Cameron, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Forest, McKean, Potter, and Warren Counties. There are three trainings available – CDL Class A Program, CDL Class A Tanker and Hazmat Program, and CDL Class A Oil and Gas Safety Program. These programs are eligible for CareerLink® funding through Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Workforce Development System. All trainings meet the requirements set forth by new federal Entry-Level Driver Training regulations.

NPRC conducts training at three CDL ranges.

  • Erie – NPRC CDL Driving Range
  • St. Marys – 1300 Brusselles Street
  • Warren – Betts Park

Course: CDL Class A
Location: 1300 Brusselles Street – St. Marys, PA
Date: February 20 – March 17, 2023
Days/Times: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Registration Opens: January 20, 2023
Registration Closes: February 13, 2023
Course Description: This course will provide 40 hours of training to learn the skills needed to pass the Class A permit test.120 hours will be road and range training that will include pre-trip inspection, airbrake leak down test, straight link backing and alley docking maneuvers. Training is provided in cooperation with third party, PA Pride, LLC. Upon completion of this 160-hour course, a student will acquire the skills necessary to take the Commonwealth of PA Department of Transportation’s CDL exam.

CDL Class A
Course Fees: $5500
Description: This course will provide 40 hours of training to learn the skills needed to pass the Class A permit test and 120 hours of road and range training that will include pre-trip inspection, airbrake leak down test, straight link backing, and alley docking maneuvers. Upon completion of this 160-hour course, a student will acquire the skills necessary to take the Commonwealth of PA Department of Transportation’s CDL exam. The requirements for this course meet the federal regulations for entry-level driver training.
