NPRC Announces Advancement Initiatives in Conjunction with Giving Tuesday

November 21, 2022 12:10 pm

NPRC has featured substantial growth over the last several years. Our college has expanded its programming and staffing, but there is still room to grow and more progress to be made. Our college is categorized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, a characteristic that makes us eligible for drives such as those that take place on GivingTuesday. This day is a global generosity day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on Tuesday, November 29, and throughout the year.

GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea; a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past decade, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

People demonstrate generosity in many ways. Whether it is helping a neighbor or stranger, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes that mean a lot to us. Every act of generosity counts. This movement has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and has gotten billions of impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the purposes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved.

Something that will matter to many who read this is seeing the people in their life succeed. At NPRC, we make it our mission to help our students succeed not just in our classrooms, but in their careers and communities. Brighter futures begin when people feel supported in a multitude of ways, something we provide with attributes such as favorable student to faculty ratios, individualized student advisors known as Student Engagement Specialists, and affordable degree and workforce development training.

While loans are one way to finance a journey through higher education, our institution makes it one of our goals that students graduate with little to no debt from their time as a student at NPRC. This becomes a reality when those who are willing and able to donate towards someone’s future follow through with an investment such as funds for supplies and scholarships to help students have an opportunity to achieve more in their lives.

When costs for classes are as affordable as they are at NPRC, small donations can make an enormous impact. For every $2,220 raised, the college can give a student a scholarship towards one full three-credit hour academic class. For every $1,300 raised we can help give a student access to an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class so they can save lives in their community.

“We hope you will consider giving any amount to support a young parent earning a degree, a high school graduate be the first person in their family to earn a college degree or take a college class, or your neighbor who may have been laid off earn a credential for a new job,” says Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Outreach, Jennifer Cummings-Tutmaher. “Your support to help build our student scholarship funds for local students is appreciated and will help ensure that brighter futures continue to start here at NPRC.”
