NPRC Participating in GivingTuesday

GivingTuesday NPRC

NPRC has touted substantial growth over the last several years through expansion of its programming and staffing. But there is still room to grow and for more progress to be made. Our college is categorized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, a characteristic that qualifies the institution for philanthropic drives such as those that take place on GivingTuesday. This day is a global generosity day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to pay it forward on Tuesday, November 28, and throughout the year.

GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea; a day that encourages people to do good in the world. Over the past decade, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

People demonstrate generosity in many ways. Whether it is helping a neighbor or stranger with a task, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes that mean a lot to us. Every act of generosity matters. This movement has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gained immeasurable support on social media from people and organizations speaking out for the purposes that matter to them.

Something that matters to many is seeing the people in their life succeed. At NPRC, our priority is not just the success of our students in the classroom. It is to also prepare them for success outside of the classroom and lead them to prosperous careers that foster economic growth throughout the region we serve. Our team educates, inspires, and serves our 10-county region in a way that’s unique to its needs. Brighter futures truly begin when people feel supported in a multitude of ways through favorable student to faculty ratios, individualized student advisors (Student Engagement Specialists), and affordable degree and workforce development trainings.

While loans are one way to finance a journey through higher education, our institution makes it a goal that students graduate or complete their training course with little to no debt. This becomes a reality when those who are willing and able to donate towards someone’s future invest in a way that supports the needs of our students, which may include awards for books, supplies, or scholarships.

When costs for classes are as affordable as they are at NPRC, small donations make an enormous impact. For example:

  • $25.00 to $50.00 can help pay for students’ software and course material expenses for a class.
  • $50.00 to $100.00 assists in the cost of a textbook for a class.
  • A $100.00 can help supply a calculator for students’ math and science courses.
  • $125.00 to $300.00 can provide a classroom of students with an early childhood education or science lab kit for the entire term.
  • A scholarship for a three-credit class can be achieved with a donation of $550.00.
  • A donation that can go even farther than one semester is the purchase of a brand-new laptop for a student, a cost of around $700.00.

“We hope you will consider a donation to Northern Pennsylvania Regional College’s scholarship fund and understand the impact that you can make,” says NPRC President Susie Snelick. “Many of our students are balancing a family, job, and their education. We also are assisting many students who are the first people in their family to earn a degree or obtain postsecondary education. Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated and will ensure their long-term success as well as posterity for the region we care so deeply about. Thank you to everyone who considers making a difference for our community of students.”
