NPRC Hosting EMT Courses Across the Region; Unveiling New Learning Experience

2026 NPRC EMT

Northern Pennsylvania Regional College (NPRC) is hosting an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course across the region beginning in February, introducing a new blended- learning format with increased accessibility and flexibility for learners. The program is made up of three sections of the course, which are didactic are didactic, lab, and field/clinical work.

This EMT Cohort will run from February 16 to July 1 and includes a new format that provides opportunities for learners to work at their own pace and schedule labs and clinical around their schedule. This approach enhances the flexibility for students who work full-time jobs or are full-time students to also complete coursework.

There will be optional online sessions with a live instructor to provide the highlights of the current chapter content. There will also be an opportunity to review the recorded session for the students. The Didactic section is planned for February 16 through April 18; the lab section is scheduled for April 20 through May 30, and the field/clinical portion is scheduled for June 1 through June 30. The total EMT Cohort is 18 weeks in length for a total cost of $775.00. Learners must be at least 16 years old to take part in the course. Clearances needed to become an EMT are not included and are an additional cost for learners. Payment plans are available for those needing help to finance the course.

This program is delivered in a competency-based, accelerated format and covers topics including patient assessment, cardiac arrest management, airway management, patient immobilization, diabetic emergencies, strokes and seizures, and information about the emergency response system. Students are required to complete all course requirements within the course time frame, which includes a minimum of 10 patient contacts.

The curriculum also includes an OB/Pediatrics section; an important area of study with recent changes in healthcare in most parts of the region. There are required lab sessions throughout the program to demonstrate competency in numerous psychomotor skills, complete testing requirements, and prepare for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam to be certified. Students will sign up for lab shifts based on their own availability. Learners may attend any lab shift throughout the 10 counties.

The College is now utilizing the Jones & Bartlett Navigate Premier Package, which provides an interactive e-book, adaptive learning modules, practice activities, and test preparation tools. Students benefit from validated module exams, a comprehensive final exam, skills tracking, and scheduling tools. Nationally, programs using Jones & Bartlett Navigate with Fisdap consistently demonstrate strong student outcomes and higher pass rates on the NREMT exams compared to programs without these resources.

Those interested in this course are required to complete the pre-registration process, which includes the entrance exam and submitting required clearances. Currently, NPRC’s NREMT exam pass rate is around 90 percent, well above the national average. Lab sites are being offered regionally.
If learners are unsure if they will be able to enroll in this course, prospects should not hesitate to begin the pre-registration process as it can be lengthy to complete all portions. Additionally, the College will be hosting another course beginning later in 2026 and pre-registration information can be carried over towards registering for the next course if that time frame is better suited for students’ needs.
